Making a Move...

Today was one of the hardest days that I've had in a long time. Today we told our church family that we are moving to Indiana this summer. I'm very excited about what the Lord has in store, but it is also very hard to think about leaving so many close friends. God has been so good to us while we have lived here.

How do you tell people that you love that you are leaving? I couldn't find an easy way to do it. We have spent over 13 years with our church family laughing, and singing, and ministering together. And lots of eating too! And every now and then there was some crying and lots of praying. When you go through so many events with your church family, it brings you close.

And yet, when God is calling, we must follow. In my heart I know that staying when God said to move, would only bring difficulty. And I also know that this move isn't just about our family serving in a new place, but also someone new serving here. I know that God has great things in store for Calvary and for our new work, if we all will be faithful in seeking Him.

For now, my wife and I covet your prayers. We have a lot to do in a very short time. In the weeks ahead, I hope to share what we are looking forward to in Indiana, and how we have come to this place in our lives.

But tonight, I just want to say thank you to my Church Family for their incredible support, and love and for the Lord who has allowed us to labor together.

Acts 20:32 And now a I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

You all are in my prayers. I know that these moves are bitter-sweet. I hope your family has a smooth transition and God continues to use you and stretch you!

I'm both sad and happy for you. Leaving is hard, but it's so exciting to be embarking on a new "adventure" with God - Although it is a bit shocking! I suppose though that God's timing is rarely in line with our own, and for good reason, we'd never do what He wants us to if it were completely up to us.

Thanks for your prayers. We will still only be about 3 hrs from Decatur, so we won't be that far away.

I'm still up for getting together for more Praise and Worship workshops too. Again, it's not that far.

Words cannot express how much I have enjoyed knowing you and your family over the past twelve years. You have been an encouragement and a blessing to me. I thank God for you! Although I am sad to see you leave, I am excited for you as well and look forward to hearing how God continues to use you and your family.

Just Making Memories or Ear Piercing--The Hard Way.

I always wondered what it felt like to have your ear pierced, but no longer do I wonder... This weekend Grandpa Penn came down to take the guys fishing. We got up early and headed out to the lake in the Jon Boat. We really had a great day catching fish and just spending time together. The weather was great - this was the first good cold fall weekend. The leaves were turning and there was a mist on the water. (That's a picture of Old Kinmundy Lake.) My son started us off with a nice catch. It was also a lot of fun to see the Largemouth hit Grandpa's frog lure on the top of the water. I even had a lot of fun setting the hook on some Largemouth myself. But later in the afternoon, someone set the hook on me! That's right - one of my fishing buddies was making a cast and on their back swing caught a hold of my right ear with an Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp Wide Gap Worm Hook. Obama, Abortion & Young Evangelicals

There is a pretty heated discussion over on Tony Jones blog about this very topic. If I understand the commentators correctly... The Obama supporters think that his presidency will actually reduce abortions even though Obama is a strong Freedom of Choice Act supporter. They feel that Bush has done nothing to lower the amount of abortions and that by not developing a stronger economy and by not helping the poor he has contributed to more unwanted pregnancies. The McCain supporters think that McCain will continue to nominate conservative justices and will eventually overturn Roe v. Wade. They believe that Bush has helped the cause by appointing conservative justices and has taken a strong stand on stem cell research. Again, I'll ask a question I asked all the way back in February about Obama and abortion .
