Teaching or Training?

My brother said something to me during our last visit to Grandma's house that stuck with me.

"Is your church teaching believers or training them?"

Are we just doing classroom work, or do we have "labs" too? We need a lot more apprentices and journeymen (and women) in the church. Instead we have a lot of people "stuck in the warehouse."

The warehouse idea comes from a great read from Ed Stetzer called Simply Missional. This is not a short blog post, but it expresses so well how the church should be in the world. I would encourage anyone who is interested in being the church instead of going to church to check it out.

Friday is for Photos - Frosty January Morning

Frosty January Morning or A Bunch of Limbs with a Fence (Click on the image to see a higher resolution picture) I went out and shot this picture last Saturday morning. I've been by this spot before with snow, and even with a thicker frost. I think this time I got there just a little late and was hoping the sun would have been just a little lower. This picture is a hard call for me. When I first looked at it, all I saw was a dark fence and a bunch of tree limbs. But the more I looked at it, the more I liked the shadows on the posts and just the lighting of the whole picture. What do you think? A beautiful capture of a January morning or just a fence with some tree limbs? I'm not sure just what I think of it myself.

Are We The New Freaks?

I don't know anything about Carl Trueman, but JT (Justin Taylor) from Between Two Worlds has highlighted a couple of his posts these past few days. Here's what's scary... It appears Mr. Trueman and I were watching the same edition of the Rachel Maddow Show and it stirred both of us the same way. He wrote this piece after watching that show.
