The Saddest Psalm

Some may disagree, but I think Psalm 88 is the saddest Psalm of them all. It appears almost devoid of hope.

Verse 1 is possibly the only light in the chapter...

1 O LORD, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you.
What has always troubled me about this Psalm is how it ends. I hope that somewhere along the way the Psalmist found the God who saves.

18 You have taken my companions and loved ones from me; the darkness is my closest friend.

Lord, help me bring your hope to people who are in this place.
