Does God Need Reminders?
I found it interesting how the ESV worded this passage in Exodus in my reading today...
Exodus 28:29 So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel in the breastpiece of judgment on his heart, when he goes into the Holy Place, to bring them to regular remembrance before the Lord.
NIV says "a continuing memorial." In one sense Aaron would be reminded of the people that he was representing. But I think the meaning of the text may be that this breastpiece would remind the Lord of His people. I think this is a reminder to us that it is proper to pray asking the Lord to remember that we are His people and that His Name is hallowed when He delivers us.
